Rock Solid Resource Center
About Rock Solid Resource Center
Rock Solid Resource Center sits at the heart of New Boston, a nonprofit built on the simple conviction that neighbors helping neighbors can change a community from the ground up. Operating as both a resource center and thrift store, it meets practical needs across the west end of Bowie County, including clothing, emergency food, fuel, temporary housing help, and utility assistance for families working to steady themselves after a hard stretch. Around town it's known for its hand-up-not-a-handout philosophy, and for the Charity Golf Classic it hosts each October at Oak Grove Golf Club, a four-person scramble that rallies local golfers, sponsors, and businesses behind its mission.
What sets Rock Solid apart is how it works: rather than trying to do everything alone, it partners with area churches, ministries, and organizations already doing good, filling in gaps where services are missing and stepping in wherever a community need calls for action. That same broad-based approach guides the thrift store, where donated goods are sorted with care so shoppers find genuine bargains while knowing their purchase helps fund someone else's hand up. Since moving back into its building on East Main Street, the center has organized the space into individual rooms dedicated to specific categories of merchandise, turning what could be a cluttered back room into an easy, welcoming place to browse.
